Red Wind Consulting is committed to working with Tribal and Native specific programs to ensure that indigenous solutions are incorporated in our thinking and responses to end violence against Native women.
Red Wind is a 501c3 nonprofit organization created in response to the increasing needs of Tribal and Native specific programs to develop indigenous responses to domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. Resources have been slow to reach Indian Country. Indigenous women have been organizing for years, however, the levels of technical support available to tribes and native-specific organizations continue to be limited. Red Wind was developed to bring additional resources to ending violence against women work while enhancing the capacity of Tribal and Native specific programs.

Red Wind brochure

As we work to address domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking in our communities today, drawing from the strengths of our indigenous origins can be challenging to some of our communities. Red Wind works with tribal programs and native specific programs:
  • who want to expand their expertise or want added support as they develop a project from the ground up at all levels;
  • who want to draw from mainstream/dominant culture structures that are not specifically designed to take up the unique issues faced by the local indigenous communities; and
  • who desire to create a programmatic structure that incorporates their local indigenous values, customs and traditions in all aspects of their work.

Red Wind Consulting’s vision is to strengthen Tribal programs and Native organizations' ability to develop and enhance local responses to domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.

Our indigenous cultures historically provided our communities with the means to prevent and respond to violence against women.

Indigenous values and beliefs were and are the cornerstone for our communities living in balance while upholding women’s honored place in society.

Some Tribal programs are creating and providing excellent Tribal specific programming that can be used as models in Indian Country.

Red Wind Consulting has the expertise and experience to assist Tribal and Native specific programs to incorporate tribal lifeways in their design. Red Wind can offer a range of technical assistance methods and training topics to assist organization and programs in their development.
